JR owns the biggest art gallery in the world. He exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are not the museum visitors. His work mixes Art and Act, talks about commitment, freedom, identity and limit.

The buyers preview will be a 1 hour event on the 7th of April (opening times tbc). Buyers or interested parties should rsvp to rsvp@lyricsandtype.com. This is a guest list ‘buyers’ event… the drinking happens the following evening.

The launch party will be on the 8th of April from 6 – 9pm. This event will be open to the public with all prints (that are not sold the night before) on sale and plenty of booze to keep the punters talking.

Huge majority of ads surrounding us is made using some form of advanced technology (that is more advanced than ink and pen). Scott Campbell is a New York based tattoo artist who works with large brands making humanizing their artwork. It’s a pretty longish lecture but it’s recommended by me so it’s your call.

After my last video shot on HV30 turned out fairly ok I’ve this time decided to go to town. I’m going to use three cameras.

1) Canon 400D positioned above the crowd and hooked up to my laptop to produce time lapse of the entire event.

2) Canon HV30 handheald to produce a natural home video look.

3) Canon 5D Mark II for all the fine footage.

Well, at least this is what the plan is. Let’s see how much of it actually works out. Watch this space!

‘Beautiful Losers‘ follows a loose-knit group of like-minded and creative outsiders in the 1990s who found common ground at a little NYC storefront art gallery. Rooted in the do-it-yourself subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip-hop and graffiti, these individuals created art that reflected the lifestyles they led. The documentary speaks to the collective memory of the 1990s and sheds new light on those that were unbeknownst to mainstream America, but in the end, left an indelible mark on the worlds of fashion, music, art, design, film and ironically, sports.
